All of my favorite meals from the past year
Restaurants:
These are my personal reviews of places i have tried.
Huey’s, it’s a hard choice for me after working here for four years to decide my favorite thing on the menu. I could literally still sell it. But the French dip, with pepper Jack cheese is almost melt in your mouth.
But it’s the daily specials, family friendly, and desserts that are my absolute favorite part. I never really got to enjoy Huey’s before working there, (my opinion are completely unbiased and unaffiliated.) I also really love a good locally owned business, and Huey’s is an impressive company. I think it’s the dedication to tradition, passion, and paying attention to the correct details that set their ambiance apart. Good food sells itself but it’s the people and the consistency that keep you coming back. I also love the variety of homemade, fairly priced, delicious food.
Frida’s on Madison, their wait for a Saturday night was brief for the amount of traffic in the area! They have a good margarita, their cheese dip is good, but their chips were too hard for me to eat. Which made me sad because even the guacamole was delicious. Their carnitas were good, and the tomatillo sauce had just the right amount of spice. But my favorite part was definitely the beans. Just looking at the picture makes me a little hungry lol
Square beans on the square in Collierville is one of the cutest shops I’ve been in, in forever. The vibe is relax which i like because usually you feel an instant pressure you’re first time ordering from a menu you just looked at. But the cashier was sweet and professional. they have a delicious sandwich, and their macaroons were perfect with their caramel latte. There’s even cute hand made pottery for sale.
Babalu on Madison. Their drinks all sounded so good it was hard to choose just one, i got the avocado toast as an appetizer, and i still think about this meal. I got duck tacos, and Mexican corn, it was delicious. The wait on a Saturday brunch, the day before Easter wasn’t too terribly long plus there is so much to see nearby!
Slider inn midtown on Peabody ave! If you’re looking for a full family friendly place, this is it! Even you’re furbabies are welcome. The Jamison slushees are delicious, but my favorite thing isn’t on the menu! I heard from a friend to ask for this, and the server knew immediately. A Buffalo chicken slider with peanut butter. Yeah i know. I felt weird ordering it but my mouth waters just thinking about it. But if that isn’t your thing, they have so many options for sandwiches and my kids love their hotdogs!
Anchor nutrition! My personal favorite tea shop 💛 the sweetest, most patient crew. I haven’t had a tea that i didn’t like yet. Some times i just tell them what flavor I’m feeling and let them just make something. Their shakes are good, but It took me a couple to find one that wasn’t predominantly protein tasting. Which is fine if that’s what you like lolol
Auntie Em’s sweet treats! A little hard to find if you don’t know the location, but it is a hidden gem!! They literally have a treat for any craving, you can just taste the difference in something made with love and passion. It’s one of our favorite places to go.
The Arcade Restaurant on s. Main, the perfect lunch spot. Whether it’s full family or just girlfriends snacking, it’s the perfect place for after shopping!!
Los Pilares on navy road, if family friendly, good for the soul Mexican is your thing, then this is your place. The patio is the perfect spot, and oh the stories those tables could tell. They make the perfect margarita😋
SB donuts on navy Rd! You can instantly taste the difference in their donuts. Probably my favorite donut I’ve ever had, and they’re always so beautiful. If you’ve never tried a kolashe, go try one now!
Oh my gosh these carnitas were SO good, and the soup with it was definitely my favorite part. A nice change to the way people visit food trucks, and the quality of the food is just what you would expect at a restaurant.
I love everything about this cute little place. The artwork, the potato salad, and the variety of the menu.
